FAQ WG-Speeddating

After filling out the form, you should receive a confirmation email promptly after the registration period has expired. If this does not happen, please contact us directly  wgspeeddating.allmandring23(at)gmail.com.

No, the WG-Speeddating always takes place at the beginning of the semester. Thus, at the move-in dates of March, April, September and October.

No, as a programme student you will be allocated a room at random, as at the time of the WG-Speeddating it is only known how many rooms need to be kept free, but not yet who will come. This allocation is done by the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart.

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all requests. However, if you need a ground floor flat for special reasons, please contact us directly so that we can take this into account when forming the group.

If you no longer want a room, you must contact us. If you still want to move into a hall of residence, keep in mind that you will lose your place in the Studierendenwerk's queue and will have to reapply again.

If you have received an email from us with an acceptance for a room, you will get it in any case. The WG speed dating is optional. However, you will then be assigned a random flat share.

No, the WG-Speeddating is carried out separately for Allmandring 2 and 3. If you have applied for both halls of residence, we will assign you to a group in Allmandring 2 or 3.

We divide the flatmates and applicants into groups of 6-8 in advance. Within these groups, the applicants rotate through the WGs. At the end, the WGs can rank the applicants and vice versa from this group.

The Studierendenwerk will send you the rental contract about 8 to 10 weeks before you move in. After that, you have about a week to sign it and send it back to the Studierendenwerk.

The Studierendenwerk Stuttgart is the official landlord of the WG rooms. We, as the dormitory tutorial, are only responsible for allocating the rooms on behalf of the Studierendenwerk. We receive the list of applicants and a list of available rooms from the Studierendenwerk before the WG-Speeddating. After the WG-Speeddating, we send the Studierendenwerk a list with the room allocation. The Studierendenwerk then sends the corresponding tenancy agreements.

Yes, this is possible, as long as you move into the hall of residence and everyone in the shared flat agrees. In this case, simply write us an email. You and your flatmate do not have to take part in the WG-Speeddating.

The decision as to who will move in where is made by the tutorial or the WG-Speeddating tutors. They will forward their decision to the Studierendenwerk. We would like to ask you to refrain from sending us emails regarding the decision and would like to point out once again that we strive to find the best combination for each flat-share and each future resident. Unfortunately, we cannot answer emails regarding room allocation due to the large amount of work involved.

In the best case, the flat-sharing community and the applicant have a match, i.e. both have ranked themselves as priority 1. In this case, the applicant will certainly move into this flat-share. In order to be sure of getting into a match, you should visit your favourite flat-sharing community again in the last time slot provided for this purpose.

For all shared flats and applicants who did not have a match, the allocation takes place according to the priority list. Due to programme students who cannot participate in the WG-Speeddating, there are fewer future residents than WGs in the WG-Speeddating. The remaining programme students are distributed among the flat-shares that did not participate in the flat-share speed-dating.

Every flat-sharing community and every future resident receives an overview sheet with all the important information. On the back there is the possibility to create a priority list.

The WG-Speeddating takes place about 10 weeks before moving in.

The dating sheets, both from the flat-shares and from the applicants, are thrown into our letterbox. This is at the top right of the letterboxes in front of Allmandring 26A.

You will only find out about your room when you receive your tenancy agreement, which the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart will send to you quickly after the WG-Speeddating. If you have a match with a shared flat, you will definitely get this room.
